What does a TVR project cost?
Bespoke rugs are priced by knot density, materials, and surface area, not by catalogue. As a guide: • Entry: from €5,000 (small wool pieces, standard density) • Typical: €12,000–€30,000 (room-sized, custom design, Bikaner wool / natural silk) • Signature: €100,000+ (large formats, Pashmina blends, 14/14 fineness, gold/silver thread) We will quote your project precisely within 48 hours of receiving a brief.
How long does a bespoke rug take to produce?
Production timelines: • 5-6 months: standard custom commission, single piece • 3-4 months: express slots in our Kathmandu- or Indian atelier for time-sensitive projects • 7–12 months: signature pieces with extreme density or rare materials (Pashmina, hand-spun nettle in 350.000 knots plus per m2) We begin briefing immediately and confirm a delivery window within the first week.
Can I buy a carpet online?
Yes. Our remote commissioning process includes: Virtual consultation (Zoom/WhatsApp), Material sample kit with maintenance product testers, 3D rendering of the rug in your space.
Where can I see TVR rugs in person?
Several options: • Atelier showroom: Evergem, Belgium (by appointment) • Sample kit at home: full material samples and color references sent worldwide, after initial phone/video call, project asessment and price scope approval. • Personal presentation: Thibault travels for projects across Europe, and on request internationally • Trade fairs: we exhibited at Maison&Objet (Paris), Design Shanghai, Salone del mobile (Milan), IMM (Cologne), Salone del mobile (Moscow), Maison&Objet Miami, and Paris Design week; upcoming dates announced via the newsletter • Reference projects: private viewings can be arranged at selected hotel and yacht installations
The Process
What does working with TVR look like, step by step?
A bespoke commission moves through six phases: 1. Briefing: a private consultation (in showroom, by Zoom, or at your residence) to define use, size, palette, and design direction 2. Mood board: 3D renderings of the rug in your space, with material and color combinations 3. Sample: a knotted sample in your chosen wool/silk and palette, for in-person approval 4. Atelier production: hand-knotted in India or Nepal under direct supervision, with periodic photo updates 5. Quality control: pH-balanced washing, post-wash inspection, finishing in Belgium 6. White-glove delivery: climate-controlled shipping with installation by Thibault personally for rugs over €50,000
Do you work with interior designers and architects?
Yes — designer and architect partnerships are a core part of our practice. We offer: • Trade pricing on confirmed projects • Custom made samples for your specific project • White-label presentation: rugs can be specified, presented, and invoiced through your studio • NDA-protected client lists for sensitive commissions • Dedicated project management from concept to install • Showroom access in Evergem for client presentations

What makes TVR carpets unique?
Five unmatched standards: 1. 14/14 fineness (196 KPSI / 300,000 knots/m²) 2. In-house hand-carding/spinning (Himalayan wool/nettle) 3. Persian/Nepalese directional pile knots 4. Proprietary pH-balanced washing 5. Single-knot design adjustments
How does TVR compare to other luxury rug houses?
Five points differentiate us from the established maisons: • 14/14 fineness (196 KPSI / 300,000 knots per m²) — up to even 15/15 (225 KPSI / 350.000 knots per m2) comparable only to historical Persian masterworks • In-house carding and spinning: we control raw material from fleece to knot • Persian and Nepalese directional pile knotting — most competitors use a single technique • Proprietary pH-balanced washing — eliminates the residual chemistry that causes color migration over time • Hand-Dyeing of the materials. The colorations of the materials are done by a hand controlled mill. This creates more irrregular dyeing effects that mimic natural dye effects without the downsides to them (UV resistance and color matching upon re-producing the same color) • Single-knot design corrections during weaving — no other atelier permits this level of intervention mid-loom • Redesigning of the complete design and pattern of your custom rug. We don't stretch or shrink the design, we re-engineer it from the ground up, pixel by pixel. Our team of 14 designers work days on your unique rug design in your unique size. • We match your sample color exactly. This is important especially for designers. Give us a sample in any material and we match the color and put it in your custom carpet. • The level of detail and perfection and our expertise in doing this in extremely large sizes is unique in the world. Where others sell from a catalogue, we consider every TVR rug is one-of-a-kind. We can reproduce the design for you, but most of our clients request a custom unique piece made for them. Whatever we can do for you we will and we will go beyond to achieve maximum customer satisfaction.

Living with a TVR Rug
Are TVR rugs suitable for homes with children, pets, or underfloor heating?
Yes — each rug is engineered for daily life: • Children & pets: high-traffic wool/silk blends with ISO 20743 antimicrobial finish; spot-cleanable with the included Maintenance Wonder Case • Underfloor heating: certified to 27°C floor surface temperature; recommended underlay maintains air circulation • Bare feet: silk and even after a decade of walking on them, the silk and Pashmina blends still feel as soft, dense, and luxurious under bare feet as they did the day you got them. They don't go flat, scratchy, or compacted even after a decade of use. • Allergies: hand-carded Himalayan wool removes 90%+ of microscopic dust during processing
Will the colours fade due to sunlight?
Our ISO-certified dyes retain vibrancy: • <10% fade after 10,000 lux-hours (≈5 years in sunlit rooms) • Lifetime guarantee against color bleeding
How long will my carpet last?
With proper care using your Maintenance Wonder Case: • 25+ years: Bikaner wool/natural silk (normal household use) • 20-30 years: Silk rugs (avoid direct sunlight) *78% become multi-generational heirlooms.
Does a Thibault Van Renne carpet shed?
Minimal shedding (≤2% pile loss), primarily during the first 6 months and in high-traffic areas. Our Indian top collections shed 60% less thanks to hand-carding.
How to prevent slipping?
We include a medical-grade underlay with: • Anti-slip (tested to 45° incline) • ISO 20743 certified bacterial resistance • Washable up to 60°C
Can you repair damaged carpets?
Yes. Our archival restoration service offers: • Knot-for-knot replication matching original density • Spectrophotometer dye rematching • Insurance appraisal documentation
What if the finished rug doesn't match my expectations?
Our process is designed so this question never arises: • Pre-production design and color chart. You'll see the design in our design scheme made by our team. It shows the design, the colors used. The color chart shows the same but ads the physical threads in the colors they will be used in the final rug. • Pre-production sample: you approve the knotted sample in your space before atelier production begins • Photo updates: progress from the loom; • Final approval: photographs of the completed rug, in daylight, sent for sign-off before shipping • Unconditional revision: in the rare case the finished piece falls short of the approved sample, we re-weave at our cost We have never had a client refuse a finished commission. We pride ourselves in mastering the art of rug perfection.
